My friend Marlene (not her real name) was struggling at work. She was upset because of what a co-worker had said to her. After that Marlene found it difficult to be in the same room as the co-worker. One day Marlene and a couple of other co-workers were involved in a conversation about that one co-worker. During the conversation Marlene felt like they were what she called gossiping and chose to leave the conversation. As she walked away she started to feel bad to the point where she said she hated herself for saying anything.

Marlene shared this story in our session together. She didn’t want to hate herself and wanted to find her way to loving herself. In that moment, we celebrated two things…how she was aware of no longer wanting to participate in the conversation and for hating herself. I guided her to recognize that by being aware she was already experiencing love for herself.

How do you move from self hate to self love?

The moment of being aware is the moment you can make a new choice if needed. Why? Because if you don’t feel good about something, the creator is ‘highlighting’ it for you to observe what’s going on inside and outside of you. The first thing that happens is you begin judging yourself for what you’ve done. This then leads to all kinds of negative feelings including self hate. Living everyday is about awareness. That awareness includes feelings and when you feel those feelings, you’re on your way to healing whatever it is.

It’s the love from the creator that shines the light on what you’re experiencing. Noticing it indicates you love yourself enough to reveal whatever it is to yourself giving you an opportunity to heal and resolve any unrest related to the experience.

How powerful is this? Marlene had healed past the self hate and moved through her experience with that co-worker. She let me know that their relationship was very different. She now has no problem being in their presence.

Wherever you are on your journey, may you find what works for you…find your own truth…and you will always be guided to feel at peace inside.
